A weekend
in Mahabaleshwar

Two unhurried days in the hills, built around a stay at Ayati. Here is how our guests tend to spend them.

Ayati Resort & Spa

Mahabaleshwar rewards a slow pace. Two days is enough to see the places everyone comes for and still have long mornings on your balcony with a coffee. This is the rhythm most of our guests settle into.

Arrive, and slow down

Most people drive up from Pune or Mumbai and reach by early afternoon. Check in, unpack, and let the first few hours be nothing more than the view. The pool faces the valley, and the light in the late afternoon is the best of the day.

Day one: the classic sights

Start early at Table Land in Panchgani, a wide plateau with long views over the Krishna Valley. Go before the crowds, walk the edge, and try the roasted corn the local vendors sell. On the way back, stop at Mapro Garden for strawberry cream and to browse the preserves, then end the afternoon at Venna Lake as you come into Mahabaleshwar, where you can take a boat out on the water.

Day two: closer to home

Keep the second day gentle. The Bhilar waterfalls, near the resort, are at their best in the monsoon months, roughly June to September. Bhilar is also India’s first Village of Books, so it is worth a wander. Spend the rest of the day between the pool and Prana, our restaurant, and let the valley do the work.

A few practical notes

  • Carry a light jacket. Evenings in the hills are cool, even in summer.
  • Roads are winding and beautiful, so allow a little extra driving time and stop often.
  • Our team is happy to plan your outings and timings before you arrive. Just ask.

When you are ready, choose a cottage and we will take care of the rest.
